Dr. Maggie Thompson | PT, DPT
Maggie is the owner and founder of Refuge Physiotherapy. She was born and raised in Tupelo, MS. She attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where she earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and played on the women’s basketball team. Maggie completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She then completed a post-doctorate Manual Orthopedic Physical Therapy Fellowship program through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT) in Oklahoma City, OK. She is now a Fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapy.
After moving in 2019 to be with her now husband, Maggie currently resides in Fort Collins, CO. She is passionate about developing authentic client-provider relationships, leading clients to regain greater confidence, and encouraging patients to embrace new challenges to grow into the best version of themselves. She loves spending time with her husband, being active, self-development, and traveling when she can!
Dr. Joshua Emerson | PT, DPT
Josh's goal is to facilitate mobility and peak performance through a global, integral approach. Utilizing functional kinetic exercise coupled with manual therapy, dry needling, and vestibular therapy; he is able to facilitate client healing and guide them on their journey of long-term health and well-being.
He specializes in treating neck pain and headaches, shoulder/forearm pain, hip/knee/ankle pain, low back pain, balance/dizziness (vertigo), and sports and orthopedic rehab.
Josh is a loving husband and proud father of four children. He enjoys: music, food, fly fishing, hiking, gardening, cycling, reading and swimming.
Josh grew up in Ramona, CA. He attended UC San Diego, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science and minored in Spanish Literature. Josh graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA.
He grew up playing water polo, participating in marching band and show choir, and competing in triathlons. In college, he rowed for the crew team and enjoyed surfing.
Josh's enthusiasm for physical therapy began as a rehabilitation aide for Rady Children's Hospital, while seeking avenues of healing within the western medical model. With prior experience in teaching, coaching, sports performance, and massage therapy, Joshua blended these passions into his practice of physical therapy in order to promote movement, health, and wellness.
Taylor Goble | Administrative Assistant
Taylor was born and raised in Greeley Colorado. She attended and graduated from CU School of Nursing with her BSN-RN before moving to Oahu where her husband was stationed at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
They lived there for two years before returning to Colorado. She worked as an RN during their travels before deciding to stay home with their two daughters. She then ran her independent travel agency for 4 years.
She, her husband and two daughters now live in Windsor. She loves reading, travel, gardening and planning adventures, locally or far away, for her family.
She is excited to be part of the team at Refuge and support the mission to help all our patients be the best versions of themselves.
Roynetta "Roy" Walker | LMT, CLTC
Roy received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she also pursued pre-nursing studies. Though she began nursing school at Adams State University in Colorado, her passion for alternative therapies led her to a fulfilling career in massage therapy.
A Colorado resident for nearly 20 years, Roy lives with her veteran husband and five children. Outside of her professional life, Roy is an adventurer at heart. She enjoys hiking, summiting Colorado’s iconic 14ers, participating in local races such as the Horsetooth Half Marathon, and traveling to broaden her knowledge and career. Roy is also a talented fiber artist, channeling her creativity into various crafts.
Roynetta "Roy" Walker is a highly skilled licensed massage therapist, holding certifications in Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (CLTC) and Craniosacral Therapy from the Chikly Institute and Upledger Institute International. With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, she has worked in various capacities, including as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), in-home care, and hospice.
Roy’s passion for healing extends beyond her private practice; she is a dedicated volunteer with Healing Warriors, a non-profit organization providing non-narcotic therapies for veterans and their families. Her exceptional service was recognized with the prestigious "Champion of Service" award. She is also pursuing certification in Craniosacral Therapy techniques to continue expanding her therapeutic expertise.
An experienced Massage Teacher’s Assistant, Roy is committed to mentoring the next generation of therapists. Her approach integrates various therapeutic techniques to create a personalized healing experience for her clients.
